Look What I Got !!

I participated in the Tax Relief Swap and recieved my goodies from the fabulous Julie at Abbily Ever After. The package arrived with a little note and some wonderful gifts.

See ...

She said -

"Here are a few things to help make your tax day a little happier" (The Willow Tree figurine is titled "Happiness" FREE to sing, laugh, dance and ... create!), "Brighter" (Little Miss Sunshine DVD) "& yummier" (Ghiradelli Chocolate - Dark 60% Cacao). Also in the package were a gorgeous pair of earrings (the picture doesn't do them justice - they are awesome!).

Girl, YOU ROCK !! Thanks so much for your generosity and creativity.

Itchy !!

Never in my life, to the best of my recollection, have I ever had a reaction to poison ivy - that is ... UNTIL NOW ! Of course, I didn't even know I had touched the stuff until way after when the blisters and itching began. It's not pretty ...

Anyone out there got any remedies on how to get rid of it FAST ??

Think About This .... TAX Rebate

The federal government is sending each and every one of us a $600 rebate.

If we spend that money at Wal-Mart, the money will go to China.
If we spend it on gasoline it will go to the Arabs.
If we purchase a computer it will go to India.
If we purchase fruit and vegetables it will go to Mexico, Honduras, and Guatemala.
If we purchase a good car it will go to Japan.
If we purchase useless crap it will go to Taiwan, and none of it will help the American economy.

The only way to keep that money here at home is to buy beer, since it is the only product still produced in the US.

Thank you. (to my brother - for sending me this !)

Fun Monday - # 31 - Your FIRST Celebrity Crush

Goodness, gracious !!
This is going to be soooooooooo embarrassing ! (but lots and lots of FUN)

Jo at JoBeaufoix is our hostess this week and what a great topic she picked!

Her assignment was:

“I want to know about your first ‘celebrity’ crush. You know, the one you fancied from that band, or that film, or who read the news, or who won Gold at the Olympics.
Did you have their pictures on your wall or in your locker?
Did you dress like them, style or colour your hair like them, follow them, meet them, marry them? (It could happen.)
Photos of THEM would be good, photos of YOU at the time you liked them would be even better.
Also, if you have time, I’d like to know whether they had any influence over your life, the person you became, or if they were just an embarrassing blip you would kind of rather forget about.”

Drum Roll, please .....

Are any of you out there OLD enough to remember this heart throb?

When I was in middle school - he was the man !! I only had two of his albums but I listened them to them all the time (notice, that I said albums? that's vinyl for those of you who know of nothing but cassettes and CDs). I proudly hung the album covers (and the posters that came with them) on the wall of my bedroom.

Here Comes Bobby

1970

(This album cover folded out so that it showed his entire body)

With Love, Bobby

1970

OH, and I still have these albums, just no record player to play them on !!

I don't remember most of his songs except for JULIE, DO YOU LOVE ME?

After checking out YouTube (which I still can't seem to embed), a couple more all of sudden sounded familiar !!

Like, Little Woman and Easy Come, Easy Go (this video clip is from a much older Bobby !)

And, I must not forget ... Bobby Sherman played Jeremy Bolt on Here Comes The Brides

Of course, he sang the title song "Seattle" for that show ....

So, where is Bobby now?

Bobby has fathered 2 sons and has found a respectable niche as a medic/policeman in Southern California.
He has served as Captain on the LAPD, teaching CPR & First Aid and most recently as Sheriff on the San Bernadino Police Dept.

AND ... he has his own foundation.

And, if the above hasn't been embarrassing enough ... here I am in the summer of 1974 !

Make sure that you go visit Jo - I guarantee it will be worth your time !!

My Mother Didn't Name Me Grace for a Reason !

Scenario -

* Come home from work Thursday evening feeling like a Mack truck just ran over me.

* Make a mess on the counter while cleaning a baking dish that I had left to soak in the sink.

* The water slopped over onto the counter.

* I move some of my decanter type bottles out of the way to clean up the slopped water.

* I set them on top of the cutting board to get them out of the way.

* While cleaning up the mess, I notice the water has gotten under the cutting board.

* Not thinking, I lift up the cutting board.

* This lovely (and rather heavy) bottle decides to fall to the floor because of my stupidity.

But ... before hitting the floor -

It landed directly on my toe .

(The big toe nail is still discolored from my last lack of grace, a few months ago)

OUCH !!!!!

The nail instantly turned blue.

The pain was rather intense (you know, the kind that makes you sick to your stomach?)

It has been real fun trying to find a pair of shoes to wear that dont' cause major pain ...
