I hope you don't mind a comment on this...I have been dealing with ongoing knee problems too. (My troubles are hereditary and have been getting worse since I entered my thirties.) I saw an orthopedic surgeon late last year, and he felt that the problem could be controlled by physical therapy. So that's what I did, and I'm faithfully doing my exercises every day.
But I still have trouble. I don't know how bad it has to get before I would actually get the doctor's "permission" to have it fixed surgically. Knee trouble affects your whole life. Keep us posted and feel free to visit my wee blog if you like!
